OUR NEW POLICY

And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. (Dan 7:25)

In times past it was the custom that when a person made a promise, especially if that promise was bound by writing, that all parties involved would keep to their agreement.

Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. (Mat 25:27)

When we hand our money over to the bank for them to save for us, the bank doesn't stick it in a vault and let it lie there. The bank invests that money with the intention of earning even more money for themselves. When I was in grade school the banks would encourage us young entrepreneurs to invest our dimes and nickles in a savings account where it would grow with interest. Some people have found that their nickles and dimes had grown into a sizable fortune as it steadily matured over the years. A while back I received a statement regarding a savings account I had with a bank. The bank charged me five dollars for saving my money with them. I asked them why the fee. They said that when an account drops below two hundred dollars, they charge the saver a fee for their services. When I said I wanted to withdraw my money, they asked my why? I told them that if I saved my money with them, I'd go broke. And besides, I didn't know they had a leaky vault.

If a man vow a vow unto the LORD, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth. (Numb 30:2)

And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith the LORD. (Zech 8:17)

Yesterday I was given a notice from my local department store about a change in their policy. The notice states that they now share all my personal information with whoever they want in effort to better serve me and others like me. Umm, yeah sure. Now these people have, and have had, my information, that I can't retrieve and make private again, which can be seen by anyone who wants to know what I don't want them to know. In other words, their privacy statement states that I no longer have any privacy.

A few months ago I canceled a contract with my ISP. No problem, so it seemed. But a few months later I noticed on my bank statement that the company was now charging my bank card. When I inquired about it, they stopped the charges, but I was still out the 5 months of charges already withdrawn from my account. When I told them that they weren't supposed to be keeping my bank number on file (I always paid in person), they checked their records, and agreed that I had so stipulated. Other bills such as insurance I found to be the same way. They say, when paying by phone “Do you want us to use the same card you have on file with us?” I say, “You're not supposed to have a number on file.”

So much for our supposed privacy.

And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. (Mat 19:4-6)

Wedding vows have no meaning whatsoever any more. Some marriages are based on the concept that each partner can do anything they want, that is, they can behave as if there had been no commitment made. The marriage is designed to be a convenience, or a means to another end. There is no longer the thought of each becoming a part of a united whole, thus leaving the children to be without the traditional family. This is especially true of our public figures

I once owned a gas card that I used when I filled my tank. With every other statement it seems, they included a sheet of paper that said “We have changed our policy.” When I signed up for the card, I signed a contract with them, which I always kept, my having no other choice other than to cancel the card. This has become the custom, with business, and with the governments small and great. We sign on the dotted line, and we think we have become a part of an unbreakable bond. But the other side, the ones with the power, can change the contract at will. And of course their changes are never in our favor, although they often word it as such.

Your words have been stout against me, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, What have we spoken so much against thee? Ye have said, It is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of hosts? And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are set up; yea, they that tempt God are even delivered. (Mal 3:13)

If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the LORD of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart. (Mal 2:2)

If so be they will hearken, and turn every man from his evil way, that I may repent me of the evil, which I purpose to do unto them because of the evil of their doings. (Jer 26:3)

Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning: And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil. Who knoweth if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him; even a meat offering and a drink offering unto the LORD your God? (Joel 2:12-14)

There are many people who believe that this country of the USA was founded on the Christian religion. I don't agree with this assumption, even though it has made use of many of the Christian traditions over the years. America was founded on the freedom of religion, and the equality of man. It has never fully lived up to either of these standards, but that was our direction in the beginning.

We are now on a road that leads to oblivion, as we journey farther and farther away from what God wants His people to be. In the past our lukewarm condition was blessed by God, probably due to the fact that we were at least making a feeble attempt to be what He desires of us. Now that we are under the devil's thumb, what will He do with us in the future?

Rather than a land dedicated to freedom of religion, we have become a nation desiring to be free from religion, especially from the Christian religion.

My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change: (Prov 24:21)

For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us. (Act 6:14)

It has happened to many people that they join a church teaching a certain doctrine, only to have that church change its policies without them being aware of it (Arminian to Calvinism for example). Long-established, hard line Fundamental churches have gone from strict conservative beliefs, to espousing very liberal and worldly views. When such changes as this take place, those in the know have no alternative but to cancel their policy with that church, and try to find one that continues to teach what the Good Book says. Most people it seems don't really care what their church teaches or believes, as long as they feel adequately entertained.

Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil. (Jer 13:23)

For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: (Rom 1:26)

Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself. (Phil 3:21)

Change is good, when that change is directed toward what God desires and His purposes. But change to the good goes contrary to our nature, and is resisted by the carnal man. In this day of change, the world wants everyone to please their flesh, and it resists those who try to please their Spirit.

For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. (Mal 3:6)

When we signed on as a disciple of Jesus, we made certain vows very similar to, if not exactly like the vows made between a husband and a wife. God tells us what He expects of His bride. Can we change our contract like modern businesses are inclined to do?

God said He doesn't change. If God doesn't change, and a change has to be made, who do you suppose has to do the changing?

My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips. (Psa 89:34)

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. (Mat 5:17-19)

For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. (Rev 22:18-19)

I once knew a man who was inclined to make a deal with you, and when you had performed your part of the deal, and it was time to complete his part, he would say “I changed my mind, and I don't want to do what I said I'd do.” Does this sound like a fair arrangement in your mind? I wonder what God thinks when we do the same thing to Him?
